Siphoning gas out of the car is a common issue for nowadays. If you decide to use any gas-running vehicle but haven’t enough gas near you, you can extract fuel from your car. Hence, you need to siphon the gas out of the car. As fuel goes bad so quickly, you need to siphon hurriedly.
Siphoning gas out is a simple process but follows the principle of physics. Don’t get tensed. You needn’t know the physics to siphon the gas out. Steps to Siphon Gas out
As it is a matter of general physics, you have nothing to worry about the whole process. So, follow the below steps and siphon gas out normally. Don't skip any step or you may fall into a problem. So, let’s start.
Get the Gas Container
Always use a closed container for moving the gas. The gas can releases hazardous fumes which are dangerous for health and the environment. A standard gas can, or closed container can be handy for this purpose. However, never use any open container for siphoning the gas out.
Get a Transparent Hose Pipe or Tube
A hosepipe with an inch diameter is enough to suck the gas into the container. Here, try to use a transparent plastic tube from which you can see the gas flow from the car container. However, you need two tubes, and one is for to reach the gas tank and another is to reach into the deep of the tank. Using two tubes provides a smooth flow of gas, but you can use a single but long tube.
Use Gravity for Siphon the gas out
In the entire process, you needn’t use any machine to apply force. So, be technical and intelligent here to use the gravity. Use the gravity to flow the gas from the higher point to the lower point. So, place the gas container to the ground in a way so that it can be adjacent to the gas tank.
Attach the hose to the gas tank and the Container
Now, this step is quite tricky. Shove one end of the hose inside the gas tank so that it can reach to the deep end. The other end should be placed inside the gas container. Once you have to shove both pipes inside the gas tank as well as the container, now check whether they work well or not.
At first, blow the tube carefully to listen the bubbles sound coming from the gas tank. Then, shove the short tube into the tank but not too deeply. The shorter tube should reach the gasoline stage. However, never try to inhale the gasoline fumes to check the bubbles sound.
Seal the entry point
So, which idea works behind siphoning the gas out of the gas tank? Here, air pressure works to siphon the gas out. So, escaping of air from the gas tank must be stopped. Use a rag and wrap it around the starting point of the gas tank. Wrap the rag tightly so that it compresses the tubes and the gas pressure. You can check the warp by soaking in the water and wring it as much possible as you can to make a seal.
Siphon the gas out of the tank
Now, it’s time to siphon the gas out of the tank. So, make sure that the longer hose pipe is attached snugly to the container. Now create a force of air with your mouth into the shorter hose so that the gas can flow into the gas container.
Block the end of the hosepipe with your thumb to put pressure. This sir pressure works inside the tank which forces the gas out of the tank through the longer tube. Using your mouth to creating force is risky for health. You can use an air pump instead of your mouth.
Watch the Gas Flow
The gas should flow continuously through the pipe from the tank to the container. However, if you find any problem in the gas flow, check the seal around the entry point and make sure it is tight enough.
Furthermore, if the gas is transferred thoroughly to the container, remove your thumb from the end of the hose pipe. Raise the pipe toward the sky. It helps to reduce the gas flow in the longer pipe. Remove both pipes from the container as well as the gas tank when gas siphoning is finished.
Repeat the process if you need to siphon gas out once again.
